Kuramoto Ice Melbourne, Victoria

The Ice Guys supply Kuramoto Japanese cocktail ice to bars, restaurants, and events across Melbourne's CBD and inner suburbs, with all four formats in stock.

Kuramoto Ice Supplier

You have put real thought into the spirits list, the glassware, and the technique. The ice should match.

Kuramoto ice is made using the Junpyo pure ice process: water is slow-frozen for over 48 hours while being agitated to push out microbubbles and prevent impurities from being captured. The result is crystal-clear ice with nearly zero impurities and a melt rate slow enough that the first sip and the last sip taste the same.

We stock all four formats and deliver across Melbourne's inner suburbs. We are Melbourne's leading retailer of Kuramoto ice, currently supplying cocktail bars, restaurants, and hotels across the CBD, Fitzroy, Collingwood, South Melbourne, and Richmond. The ice is sourced from a family-owned Japanese producer that has been making it since 1923.

Kachiwari Ice

Kachiwari is hand-cracked Kuramoto ice. Each piece is irregular, not geometric like a sphere or cube. It sits naturally in a rocks glass, chills whisky and spirit-forward cocktails fast, and melts slowly without flooding the drink.

The organic shape and the sound of ice clinking in the glass are part of what makes it work.

Available in cases of 6 packs, each pack containing a 3kg bag. $96.40 per case.

Sphere Ice

A sphere has less surface area touching the drink than any other ice shape, which means it melts slower. Good for whisky, spirit-forward cocktails, or anything you are sipping slowly. Smaller spheres also work well in large balloon glasses and champagne coupes.

Available in two sizes:

  • Sphere S (55mm, 10 pieces per pack, 15 packs per case) — $160 per case
  • Sphere M (62.5mm, 8 pieces per pack, 12 packs per case) — $130 per case

Collins Ice (Stick Ice)

One piece of Collins ice fills a Collins glass from base to rim with no gaps. Less ice touching the drink means slower melt and carbonation that holds longer. Works well for gin and tonics, highballs, and carbonated long drinks.

Each piece is cut from Kuramoto block ice, crystal clear and 35x35x125mm.

8 pieces per pack, 12 packs per case. $96.40 per case.

Cubed Ice

The cube works for just about anything. Large enough to chill slowly without diluting, clear enough to look right in any glass. It suits an Old Fashioned, neat whisky, or a Scotch on the rocks.

Compatible with our custom ice stamp service if you want your logo pressed into every serve.

Available in two sizes:

  • Cube S (50x50x50mm, 12 pieces per pack, 10 packs per case) — $106.00 per case
  • Cube M (50x50x65mm, 9 pieces per pack, 10 packs per case) — $105.50 per case

Is Kuramoto ice only for high-end cocktail bars?

No. We supply smaller bars in Fitzroy and Collingwood through to high-end venues in the CBD. If you care about what goes in the glass, Kuramoto is worth considering regardless of where your bar sits in the market.
